The Greenhouse effect Is a natural process that keeps the earth at temperatures that are livable for humans, plants and animals. The energy from the sun warms the earth and the heat rays are absorbed by greenhouse gases that are then trapped in the atmosphere. The most common greenhouse gases are Carbon Dioxide, and Methane which absorb radiation.

If it weren’t for the fact that these chemicals absorb the rays the earth would be extremely cold, and when too many rays are absorbed the atmosphere starts to warm which leads to Global Warming. This Is what starts the effects or problems of global warming to humans, plants and animals. Let’s talk about the process of the greenhouse effect to better understand the consequences. A lot of the sun’s rays are absorbed by water vapor that is naturally in our atmosphere.

Water vapor accounts for approximately 80 percent of natural greenhouse warming. The remaining 20 percent are there from other gases in very small amounts. Carbon dioxide is the largest absorber of the suns heat rays. Humans cause large amounts of carbon dioxide to be released In the atmosphere, because of the burning of fossil fuels. Humans release emissions from cars, planes, trains and industrial factories. The more carbon dioxide released to the atmosphere the more rays from the sun are absorbed.

This causes the atmosphere and the earth’s temperature to warm. The warming of the earth will cause the ocean to become warmer and the evaporation process begins causing more carbon dioxide to be released Into the atmosphere which Is extremely hard to control. Methane Is another greenhouse gas that absorbs infrared radiation 25 times more effectively than carbon dioxide making it an important greenhouse gas despite its relatively low concentration. There have been many studies on how Methane is released into the atmosphere.

Methane in the atmosphere is generated by biological activity related to rice cultivation, leaks in domestic and Industrial gasoline and the digestive process of domestic livestock, especially cattle. An environmental effect of global warming Is that higher experience more rain, and warmer temperatures will cause a greater amount of evaporation from lakes, rivers and oceans. This could have positive and negative affects depending on your region. In Northern regions of the United States, an increase in the temperature could extend the growing season for crops.

This could mean a financial blessing for farmers in the northern region. It could also hurt some farmers because too much rain can hurt some crops. Certain areas could have less rain and cause drought situations which can cause crops to die and also fires. Warm and wet weather are prime factors for tropical storms, which global warming can lead to tropical storms of a greater frequency. More rain also forces plant life to adjust instead of the forest and plant life migrating naturally. If global warming takes into effect it could cause migration to be at a much faster rate.

This has affected corals Just recently they have been dying due to increased temperature change. Other marine life may migrate northward or southward to find warmer water. The warm water would make them think that they were in their trial habitat but they were migrating toward the poles, and the food is scarce in that area. The circulation of the sea water is effected by global warming.

The cold water on the sea floor moves toward the equator, and the warm water moves toward the poles across the surface of the ocean, this is known as thermopile circulation. Thermopile circulation is a part of the large scale ocean circulation that is driven by global density gradients created by surface heat and freshwater fluxes. Thermopile is a very important process for ocean life because it brings oxygenated eater to the sea floor. If this didn’t happen water on the sea floor would not get oxygen organism needed to survive. Fish such as salmon, are most sensitive to the temperature of the water.

During the summer months the water is warmer and the salmon’s metabolic rate increases and during the winter months the water is colder and the metabolism rate slows down, which is good because during that time there is less food available, so this is how global warming would effect the salmon of the sea and they can die. People are affected by global warming in so many ways. Global warnings impact can spread diseases easily. Mosquitoes are a major carrier of tropical diseases and they carry diseases such as malaria, cholera, and dengue fever. The increase in temperature has led many scientists to believe that global warming is causing the malaria disease to spread in areas that have higher temperatures faster such as Florida, California, doubling CO concentration the malaria transmission can increase from 45% to 60 % which is a huge and dangerous percentage for the increase of a deadly disease such as malaria.

Cholera and dengue fever outbreaks would occur because of migrating mosquitoes. Global warming is becoming a major problem, everyday we learn different consequences of how we are affected. The more greenhouse gases such as Carbon Dioxide and Methane are released and trapped in our atmosphere increasing temperatures, the more consequences we suffer for our Animals, Plants and Humans. We as a people need to control the emissions that are being released into the atmosphere; this is very hard to reverse once the process has started.

This is one of the first steps to control the global warming problem. If we don’t do anything the life we live will definitely be disrupted. Our new normal will be constant thunderstorms and hurricanes, causing mass floorings, and the destroying of our environment that we depend so much on.
